Obituary

GARY BENNETT LOWE, CDR, USN (Ret.)

Gary B. Lowe was born April 1, 1934, to John and Verona Lowe in Witt, Illinois. He attended Witt Public Schools and one year at the University of Illinois. He then entered the United States Naval Academy, and graduated with the class of 1957. He received a Master's degree from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California.

After 23 years in the Navy, Gary went to work as Assistant Director of Engineering at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He retired in 1996, and enjoyed traveling, poker, and visiting family.

Gary and Edie celebrated 52 years of marriage in December. He was very proud of his children, their spouses, and his grandchildren. He was his grandchildren's biggest fan - attending ball games, concerts, and school events.

Family will receive friends at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22032, on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A service will be held at the Ft. Myer Chapel, Arlongton, Virginia, on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
