Obituary

John J. "Jay" Bistay, 71, of Fairfax City, VA, died November 13, 2012, after a long battle with Lymphoma. Jay is survived by his wife Ann. Other survivors include a daughter and stepson as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other family members. Jay was born in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Bowling Green State University. He served in the U.S. Army and reached the rank of Captain in the Medical Service Corps. He worked at the U.S. Department of Commerce retiring 37 years as Publications Director and Managing Editor. During his distinguished career, he was awarded a gold medal for outstanding achievement and service. A memorial mass will be held at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 3700 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax, VA on November 27, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Pittsfield, MA, or Bowling Green State University, Department of Journalism, Bowling Green, OH.
