Melanie Sang Mee Grubmeyer passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, August 14, 2008. Melanie was born on January 31, 1980 in Seoul Korea. She was adopted by our family in September of 1985. While growing up, two of Melanie's main interests were basketball and gymnastics. Melanie was very fond of children. During high school she babysat on a regular basis and also worked part time at Apple Tree Nursery School. The children that she nurtured were like a second family to her!

She graduated from Fairfax High School in the class of 1999. We did not realize until recently how many friends she had there. Again, this was another family for her: she belonged to it, and there was mutual caring in it. We know that they will miss her very much.

Melanie attended Northern Virginia Community College where she earned a certificate of Dental Assistance in 2004. She worked for several dentists over the last four years and did some retail sales in a couple of stores.

Melanie is survived by her father Peter S Grubmeyer; her Mother K. Joy Grubmeyer who both reside in Fairfax, Virginia. She is also survived by a sister Jill Ann Lanzilotta who is the wife of Louis Joseph Lanzilotta, both of whom reside in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.

All of us will miss Melanie very much. We are fortunate that she blessed our lives with her sweet, caring personality. She is now in the tender loving care of God!

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Melanie may be made to:
