Thomas E. Hovis 'Tom' (Age 73)

Of Fairfax, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Greenspring Village in Springfield, Virginia. Beloved husband of Ann Hovis. Devoted father of Edward Lee 'Ted' (Jennifer) Hovis of Alexandria, Virginia. Loving brother of Franklin (Gina) Hovis of Dallas, North Carolina. Proud uncle of Kevin Hovis. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Forrest Lumsden of Roanoke, VA and his sister-in-law, Shirley (Bob) Houck of Culpeper, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Ruth Hovis, his sister, Ann Hovis and sister-in-law, Kay Hovis. Tom was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked in sales for the entirety of his career. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion Fairfax Post 177 where he served as a Historian for a number of years. He was also an active member of the Elks Club of Fairfax. In recent years Tom, along with his wife Ann, enjoyed bird watching. Friends may visit at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, Virginia on Wednesday, January 2 from 11 AM- 1PM and where funeral services will be held at 1 PM. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3810 Meredith Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030 or to the Wounded Warrior Project c/o American Legion Post 177, 3939 Oak St, Fairfax, VA, 22030 in loving memory of Tom Hovis.
